What's New at Madison Area Technical College:

Hey Rails Students!

There's a fall Rails Class
http://programs.matcmadison.edu/programs/electives/ruby-on-rails-develo\pment that starts August 25th if we get a few more students, so please help me spread the word!

My apologies for the short notice. Yahoo ate the email I sent the group weeks ago. (sigh...)

We'll be using these books:

Agile Web Development With Rails, Third Edition (PDF)
http://pragprog.com/titles/rails3/agile-web-development-with-rails-thir\d-edition - This means the whole class will be with Rails 2! W00t!

Programming Ruby: The Pragmatic Programmer's Guide, Second Edition
<http://pragprog.com/titles/ruby/programming-ruby>

Changes from the Spring:
    - more coverage of the Ruby language itself
    - more frequent, smaller programming assignments so students have more feedback and can know where they are at.

Anyhow, the course was created late, didn't get into the printed timetable and thus still needs a few more students in order to run.

On the plus side, that lack of notice means that students who do take the course will enjoy a fantastic student/teach ratio!

I enjoyed having you all in class in the Spring, and thank you very much for helping spread the word for this Fall class!

Thanks!
-Steve-
