FILE-NAMING CONVENTIONS
If you're using Microsoft Office 95, you can assign long file names to your documents. All long file names have a corresponding short file name, one that you can use in MS-DOS and in applications that can't use long file names. Unfortunately, the short versions of some file names can be difficult to interpret.
With all windows minimized, click Start and navigate your way to a favorite shortcut, such as Start, Programs, Accessories, Paint. Click the item you want to turn into a shortcut (here, Paint), and without releasing the mouse button, drag it out to the desktop. Release the mouse button, and there's your shortcut.
