Sound Schemes

You try to move beyond the end of a file, you close a program, you exit Windows itself: At each of these events, you may hear a sound. Just which sound you hear is determined by the Sounds control panel. There, you can select events and then choose a new WAV sound file from disk -- or no file at all -- to play for that event. Notice the bottom of the dialog box, though.There's a drop-down menu called Schemes. Here you can choose named groups of sounds. Select one of these and the sound assignments for many events all change at once.
