The October 2010 meeting of the Madison PC Users Group (MPCUG) will
feature First Vice President Bhim Nimgade presenting "Learning to Cook on the
Internet." For anybody who is interested in food and cooking, the web is a
great resource. We will explore the wide variety of sites to find recipes
of all sorts, and places to find instructions, techniques, and theory.
There is something for everybody - from the lowly beginner to the most advanced
cook. Bring your insights, your favorite sites, and your questions to
share with the group!

Our presenter for the Wednesday, June 9, 2010 meeting will be James Kademan, of Doc Jams Printer Repair, Toner and Supplies. He will be talking about all aspects of printer maintenance and repair, with information sure to be valuable for all the members of MPCUG. He will also touch a bit on shredders, which is an increasingly important technology for people concerned about privacy and preventing identity theft.
The speaker for our general meeting will be noted Wisconsin poet, artist, author, and web designer Jeannie Bergmann. Her topic will be "An Artist's View of Web Design." She will show examples of both good web design and horrendous web design and tell us how to make web sites that are pleasing and striking as well as functional. Of course, THIS website was down for quite a while, and this information is released after the fact!
Our speaker at 7 PM will be Alnisa Allgood, the founder and Executive Director of Nonprofit Tech. She is also the organizing founder of Madison Nonprofit Day and an organizer at Madison Nonprofit Technology Group (MadTech). Her mission is to provide technology consulting and IT services to nonprofits and it is Madison's gain that she has moved here. She comes to us from San Francisco, where she has an extensive resume, including working as Technology Consultant at Ford Foundation and many others, and as Web Developer at many different institutions and groups.
Mr. Daniel Guerra will be the speaker. He is the active and dynamic leader of Argus Ventures.
Chris Robson of Robson Computer Technologies will be presenting.
Our Wednesday, January 13, 2010 general meeting topic will be a look at the newest technology, from the CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas, and also a look back at what was new in the past decade. Bhim Nimgade, Roger Tesch, and Tom Havighurst will be presenting. Also, the MPCUG is purchasing a projector for the group, and it is possible that it may arrive in time for the meeting, and we will all get a chance to see this brand new piece of technology.
